MONTEPIO MUSEUM – MONTEPIO
The Montepio Museum has been inaugurated — a unique space that reveals not only the history of one of the oldest and most important institutions in the country, but also an essential part of our collective memory.
It is truly a museum worth visiting — for the significance of what it reveals, what it preserves, and what it represents for Portugal.
It is located at Montepio’s headquarters, on Rua do Carmo, in Chiado, Lisbon.
The day was marked by inspiring conversations, joyful reunions, and the genuine happiness reflected in the faces of everyone who attended. We had the privilege of sharing this moment with Montepio President Virgílio Lima, Director-General Idália Serrão, Michelle Soares, Director of the PSP Museum, Helena Freitas, Director of the Serralves Foundation — whom we once again congratulate on receiving the Ciência Viva Award 2025 — the beloved Father Melícias, Elsa Peralta, Vice-Rector of NOVA University Lisbon, among many other guests who made the day even more special.
But none of this project would have reached the depth, historical seriousness and cultural relevance it deserves without the exceptional vision of Professor Fernanda Rollo.
One of Portugal’s leading historians, with vast cultural knowledge and a rigorous and inspiring intellectual presence, Professor Fernanda Rollo represents the highest level of public service, academic dedication and commitment to the country’s historical memory.
Her leadership — enlightened, humane, demanding and profoundly cultivated — was absolutely decisive in transforming this Museum into a project of true national significance.
We thank her, with great respect and admiration, for the trust she continues to place in Lobby. It is a privilege to work alongside her and to learn from her vision.
For the Museum, we created and produced two audiovisual installations:
— an interior installation featuring an artistic and immersive film that journeys through the history of Montepio Geral;
— and two exterior showcases that narrate, through image and movement, everyday life in Lisbon across more than 180 years of Montepio’s history.
It was a day that reminds us why we do what we do.
Projects with meaning, relevance and impact for the country. Projects that challenge us, inspire us, and push us to constantly strive to be better.
Thank you to everyone involved.
Thank you for making a day like this possible.
