“Visitei pela primeira vez os Jardins de Ressalves ainda bem pequeno, deveria estar na escola primaria, talvez por volta dos 8 ou 9 anos. Lembro-me ainda hoje, em memória bastante lúcida, do que senti. Da surpresa, do espanto, da descoberta, dos recantos, da magia, da sua faceta também misteriosa e romântica que nos transporta para muitos filmes, e estimula a imaginação levantando-nos da terra. Voltei várias vezes depois, mais velho, mas o sentimento foi sempre o mesmo, a magia sempre a mesma, e a vibração do espaço na mesma sintonia. Li bastante sobre a história do espaço, dos espaços, dos intervenientes, dos artistas, dos cuidadores, dos personagens principais, secundários e figurantes e reuni-os a todos num guião, onde se mantivesse viva a minha primeira memória do espaço.

Os Jardins de Serralves vão além das imagens, da história e da palavra, colocando-se no espaço da magia, da fantasia de um qualquer mundo paralelo ao nosso, ou filme para o qual somos chamados. É esta energia, este sentir, que tento colocar neste filme, e ao mesmo homenagear quem o mantém vivo todos os dias, os seus jardineiros.”

“I first visited the Serralves Gardens when I was still very young, I must have been in elementary school, maybe around 8 or 9 years old. I still remember, quite vividly, what I felt: the surprise, the amazement, the discovery, the hidden corners, the magic, its mysterious and romantic side that transports us to many films and stimulates the imagination, lifting us from the earth. I returned several times later, when I was older, but the feeling was always the same, the magic always the same, and the vibration of the space was in tune with it. I read extensively about the history of the space, the spaces, the actors, the artists, the caretakers, the main characters, the supporting characters, and the extras, and I gathered them all into a script, where my first memory of the space remained vivid.

The Serralves Gardens go beyond images, history, and words, placing themselves in the space of magic, of the fantasy of any world parallel to our own, or film to which we are called. It is this energy, this feeling, that I try to convey in this film, and at the same time pay homage to it. who keep it alive every day, its gardeners.”
